"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"

In this brief blog post, I'll be talking about my independent reading book for this quarter: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy written by Douglas Adams.

For my previous independent reading books, I had always chose similar books of the same genre: the works of Nick Hornby and The Adrian Mole Diaries. I chose them because I was looking for enjoyable, light books that I could actually sit back and enjoy, rather than books like War and Peace that I have to flip through my dictionary for every 2 pages. Yet I was starting to get bored of reading books of similar topics, and wanted to try reading something new. Then a friend of mine suggested me the book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and I soon became intrigued by it after reading only the first chapter.

The author of the book Douglas Adams (1952~2001) is a British writer and dramatist best known for his Hitchhiker series, a 'trilogy' of 5 books, which also became created as a television series, stage plays, comics, computer games, and films due to its popularity.

As I just said, I have already read the first chapter of the book, so I sort of got the hang of what the book might be like. I hope that it will be truly entertaining and enjoyable, just like my previous independent reading books. I'm not that used to reading Sci-Fi fiction, so I hope this becomes a great experience.
