Dave Days: The Eternal Love For Miley

DaveDays
Today's YouTube musician will be Dave Days (real name unknown/username: davedays), pretty much the most famous musician on YouTube, having the greatest number of subscribers of 1,436,881. Although he is the #1 most subscribed YouTube musician on YouTube, I honestly don't believe that fact means he greatly exceeds other YouTube musicians by musical talent. He does make some good covers and originals, but the real reason why people love him and support him so much is due to his humorous song parodies and his bright personality shown in his frequent blogs.

Above is his cover of Selena Gomez's recent hit, 'Who Says'. This video pretty much explains why people love Dave's videos: They're always full of entertainment. He always makes interesting music videos for his songs where various other YouTubers come out and act in, making his viewers to always anticipate for more. Personally, I like how he changes all songs he covers to his style: Rock. Even though I'm not a fan of Selena Gomez and her music, I enjoy listening to Dave's fresh and energetic version of it.

This is the official music video for his original, 'What Does It Take'. It was directed and filmed by Wong Fu Productions, one of the largest video producers at YouTube.

^This is a list of all the YouTubers that come out in the video, all being famous and supported in their areas. This pretty much proves Dave's vast range of fellow YouTuber friends, which makes it even more interesting for the viewers who recognize them.

Oh, I almost forgot a hugely important factor of Dave; he used to make loads of Miley Cyrus related videos which eventually allowed him her actually meet her and real life!

This is technically the fruit of Dace's continuos videos of Miley Cyrus, in which he actually got to film a video with her :O

Be sure to check Dave's website at http://www.davedays.com/ !

The Mystical Appeal, Shayne Orok

Shayne Orok

Hello, the Youtube Musician of 2/22/2011 is Shayne Orok! (username: elshaynez)

He's a 19 year old boy from Canada, having 58,987 subscribers and 6,992,332 total upload views. And yes, these are quite small numbers compared to the other YouTube Musicians I have uploaded previously, however considering the quality of music, those numbers don't matter.

Shayne perfroming in one of his videos

He has recently popular these days, particularly in Korea, due to his starring on MBC Star Audition, a Korean TV show similar to American Idol.

Above is a video of Shayne performing in MBC Star Audition, which he covered 4Men's 'Baby Baby'. The main reason that Shayne was spotlighted was because he was singing Korean songs in almost perfect Korean, despite the fact that he's Canadian and he was new to the language.

After the show ended, Shayne made a big decision to actually move and live in Korea to unfold his career. He signed a record label with Sony Entertainment Korea, and is currently widening his stage of experience by performing in various small and big music events. He has already released 4 singles as of now, and is continuing to step towards his dream. I believe the actions of Shayne are truly brave and admirable; I earn the courage to move on by listening to his music.

Chris Doyle - Indie Interpretations

Today's YouTube musician will be Chris Doyle (username: xBuryTheCastle), an 18 year old boy form the U.S. who has deep passion and determination for music. I remember stating that Jake Coco was a badly unknown compared to his skills, Chris is even worse. Even though he is 18, he has a very deep and interesting taste of music, and seems to be a mature and sophisticated young man.

"When I look at the world and see how much hatred and conflict exists, I sometimes ask myself: "What's the point to it all?" Music reminds me what that point is: The point of life isn't to merely exist, the point is to LIVE. The point is to do what you love while you are here. That is why I write, sing, play guitar -- because music is what I love the most in life." -quote from channel description-

He makes various covers of mostly his favorite musicians, the people who he marked as 'influences': Imogen Heap, Muse, 30 Seconds To Mars.

Above is the magical video that introduced me into his world. While searching for some good pop mash-up videos, I ran upon Chris's pop medley of the top 40 billboard songs of 2010, instantly falling in love with his great style of music.

As I said before, he seems to have a deep and unique taste of music (at least I think so). Thus, I often get to know many great indie musicians when checking out his channel. This video cover of the song 'Dog Days Are Over' had introduced me into an awesome indie band named Florence + The Machine, which I now love and sincerely enjoy listening to.

If you're sick and bored of mainstream pop songs these days that somehow seem to sound all alike, it's almost mandatory that you check out Chris's channel and observe some of his work. Peace!

Mystery Guitar Man
Hello guys, today's YouTube musician will be Joe (username: MysteryGuitarMan/real name unknown), a Brazilian-American that has a mind that seems to be from the 4th dimension! To be honest, I'm not sure if he should be listed as a YouTube musician, since he does plenty of other cool and amazing videos rather than just musical ones, but I guess he counts since he does make some videos that are related to music in some way. Using crazily amazing and jaw-dropping video editing techniques, he makes brilliant and outstanding videos.

Above is just one brief example of the whole pile of epic videos Joe creates every Tuesday. He makes the most inspiring videos with the most random ideas/supplies. I have always wondered where all his bizarre ideas came from, and wished a had such a creative mind like him :P

This is a video of him mixing up video game sound effects (which he recreated himself) and composing it into classical music. Here, you can observe a glimpse of his high-class video editing skills, along with his unique sense of humor.

That would be it for today, be sure to check his channel out!

Be My Valentine, Kina Grannis

Today’s YouTube Musician will be a very talented young lady from Los Angeles, Kina Grannis (username: kinagrannis). She has a total of 351,990 subscribers, placing her as the 37th (as of may 27th) most subscribed musician on YouTube. She is well-known as a great singer-songwriter, thus produces loads of richly flavored original music. Oh, that doesn’t mean she only makes original songs. She also uploads various covers of mainstream/non-mainstream music as well.

This is the official music video for her original song, ‘Valentine’, which is probably her most famous original. Although it is now 3 years old, the song is still loved by YouTubers. It was even sang by a KIS senior during the ‘Raise The Roof!’ fund-raising concert held by the Habitat for Humanity club.

She is also known for frequently making collaboration videos with other YouTubers, particularly David Choi, who was introduced in one of my previous blog posts. Above is a video of my favorite collaboration video made by them, ‘My Time With You’.
She is currently on a U.S./Canada tour, where she will be performing all her original songs from her album, ‘Stairwells’.

Come to the Dark Side: We Have Cookies.

I guess what makes (or will make) my blog posts interesting is the fact that readers will be able to learn about new musicians on YouTube and interact with various genres/styles. Inevitably, this blog would be more appealing to those who love and aspire music, yet I'll do my best to drag even those who are indifferent of music to the fabulous world consisting of notes and lyrics. lahhhh!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"

In this brief blog post, I'll be talking about my independent reading book for this quarter: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy written by Douglas Adams.

For my previous independent reading books, I had always chose similar books of the same genre: the works of Nick Hornby and The Adrian Mole Diaries. I chose them because I was looking for enjoyable, light books that I could actually sit back and enjoy, rather than books like War and Peace that I have to flip through my dictionary for every 2 pages. Yet I was starting to get bored of reading books of similar topics, and wanted to try reading something new. Then a friend of mine suggested me the book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and I soon became intrigued by it after reading only the first chapter.

The author of the book Douglas Adams (1952~2001) is a British writer and dramatist best known for his Hitchhiker series, a 'trilogy' of 5 books, which also became created as a television series, stage plays, comics, computer games, and films due to its popularity.

As I just said, I have already read the first chapter of the book, so I sort of got the hang of what the book might be like. I hope that it will be truly entertaining and enjoyable, just like my previous independent reading books. I'm not that used to reading Sci-Fi fiction, so I hope this becomes a great experience.
